His promise is true!
Isaiah writes to a nation where darkness seems to be all they can see. Israel is in decline after years of rejecting the Lord. Yet, in the midst of their darkness, the Lord speaks life over their future, and ours.
Isaiah writes: ""The sun shall no longer be your light by day, Nor for brightness shall the moon give light to you; But the Lord will be to you an everlasting light, And your God your glory. Your sun shall no longer go down, Nor shall your moon withdraw itself; For the Lord will be your everlasting light, And the days of your mourning shall be ended. Also your people shall all be righteous; They shall inherit the land forever, The branch of My planting, The work of My hands, That I may be glorified. A little one shall become a thousand, And a small one a strong nation. I, the Lord, will hasten it in its time."" Isaiah 60:19-22
Some of what Isaiah writes finds fulfillment in Jesus (60:1-3), while we can also see a partial fulfillment in Israel becoming a nation once again. Ultimately, Isaiah 60 echoes what we read about in Revelation 21: the day when God's presence will be our everlasting light, mourning will be no more, and His people will experience complete restoration.
And this promise isn't limited to Israel. It points us toward hope for all those who call on the name of Jesus.
Context is important. This promise came to a people who had little reason for hope. Yet God spoke of a future they could not see: full restoration.
The same is true for us. This doesn't mean we won't experience hard days or difficult seasons. But it does mean our present circumstances are not the end of the story. For all who belong to Christ, full restoration is coming.
Today, be encouraged. No matter what season you find yourself in, we've been promised a greater forever future in Christ.
Let's live in the promise of Rom 8:28, trusting that the Lord wastes nothing in our lives. There is no season He cannot use for our good & His glory.
