A multi-generational offer...
Many of the verses in Isaiah 55 are well-known and often quoted. But beyond the familiar passages, we see something even greater, a beautiful picture of the Father's heart and His invitation to all people.
Isaiah writes: ""Ho! Everyone who thirsts, Come to the waters; And you who have no money, Come, buy and eat. Yes, come, buy wine and milk Without money and without price. Why do you spend money for what is not bread, And your wages for what does not satisfy? Listen carefully to Me, and eat what is good, And let your soul delight itself in abundance. Isaiah 55:1-2
Because of this gracious invitation, Isaiah urges us: "Seek the Lord while He may be found, Call upon Him while He is near. Let the wicked forsake his way, And the unrighteous man his thoughts; Let him return to the Lord, And He will have mercy on him; And to our God, For He will abundantly pardon." Isaiah 55:6-7
Then the Lord gives this incredible promise: "So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it." Isaiah 55:11
This is a promise made by the Promise Keeper. Not only for those who first heard it, but for every generation until the Lord returns.
What an invitation! Why spend another moment chasing what can never truly satisfy when the Lord freely offers what alone gives life?
How sweet is our God and His everlasting invitation. And what a privilege it is to share with others what has been freely given to us. His Word will accomplish exactly what He intends. Do you believe that?
If we do, then let's live like it. Let's seek Him. Let's trust Him. Let's fight the good fight of faith, knowing His promises never fail.
