As we've finished Ecclesiastes, we've essentially read Solomon's journal, inscribed into history by God, Himself.
The book opens with the phrase, "The words of the Preacher." Solomon, inspired by God, writes to encourage the seeker. And according to Scripture, what we ultimately seek is the eternity God has placed in our hearts (Ecc. 3:11).
We all teach and learn through the moments of life and our responses to them whether through our mistakes or, by God's grace, our wise decisions. In his journal, Solomon declares that his pursuits were "vanity," like trying to grasp the wind. It's a warning: Don't follow the same empty paths I did.
After all his searching, he concludes: "Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God and keep His commandments, For this is man's all." Ecclesiastes 12:13
Don't get lost chasing things "under the sun." Our greatest and most fulfilling pursuit will always be Christ and His kingdom. so what or who are you pursuing today?
